For cases of extrinsic teeth staining, a dash of baking soda mixed with salt might be enough to remove the stain. An alternative to this would be to indulge in vegetable and other organic food items that are known to ease stains in teeth. However, for those stains that are intrinsic, teeth whitening products might be more appropriate. When it comes to teeth whitening products, dental patients can choose to either have one that is administered by a dentist or those that can be bough off the shelf. While the latter tends to provide results in a matter of minutes, the lightening of the color may be a bit limited and short-term. The former, on the other hand, can provide results that would last a longer amount of time with shades that are up to fifteen times lighter.

Inasmuch as there are food items that can help strengthen teeth, there are also those that can cause harm to teeth. Medicines and other solutions that contain chlorohexidine and amoxicillin have been known to cause extrinsic straining of the teeth.
